Gaining Weight Too Slowly All through Your Pregnancy

Just as putting on too much weight can be damaging to you and your baby, not gaining enough weight can be unsafe also. There are a few women out there who are so terrified of increasing weight that they dine on next to nothing all through their pregnancy. Please do not do this, you could be depriving your baby of the vitamins and minerals it must have and you heighten your likelihood of having a tiny baby. Babies who are malnourished at delivery are at a larger danger for health troubles than babies who are of typical weight at delivery.

If you notice that you have gained nothing through your first trimester, do not be troubled. a number of women do not gain anything through those first three months and a number of even drop a little weight thanks to morning sickness. Your baby's demands are more or less tiny at that point. It is when you are in your second and third trimesters that you ought to make sure you are putting on weight accordingly.

You might be burning up the calories you eat instead of using them to nourish your baby. Try cutting back on your exercise if you have an exercise schedule. You should make sure you have a meal after a workout to put back the calories you just lost. If you are working even while you are pregnant and it is a nerve-racking job, make sure you take the time out of your busy day for lunch and snacks.

Throughout all of this, consult with your doctor. Your doctor may want to perform some tests to be certain that you do not have a thyroid condition or any other undiagnosed medical problem that might prevent you from gaining weight. You might also need to keep track of what you have so you can show your doctor and talk about any changes that might need to be made to your diet. You may not be eating a sufficient amount and you may find that you need to have more.
