How Long Morning Sickness Lasts?

By: SWilson

This is a question that pregnant women around the world are asking. To many, the thoughts of morning sickness or pregnant nausea go hand-in-hand. However, not every expectant mother will experience morning sickness. This occurrence affects about half of all pregnant women and is often very difficult to deal with. Working women, both inside and outside the home, have to find creative ways to cope with pregnant nausea. They find themselves wanting to know whether the sickness will last through their entire pregnancy. Expecting mothers need to be reassured that these experiences are temporary.

Pregnant nausea is normally experienced by women during their 6th week of pregnancy. It most often ends around a woman’s 12th week. The first sign one will experience with nausea is the desire to vomit, followed by other symptoms. This sensation does not always produce anything other than that feeling.

There are many different reasons why a woman may experience pregnant nausea. Because of the numerous causes and the sometimes severe cases, nausea holds lasting memories. Stories of morning sickness are passed down from mother to daughter in almost every family. Thankfully now we know so much more about this sickness and how best to deal with it and its symptoms.

Women in two particular categories may find themselves wondering how long the sickness will last during the pregnancy. These are women who have gone through some form of hormone replacement therapy and those who have problems with low blood sugar. There are many other reasons why certain women experience nausea, which is why understanding the causes of morning sickness and nausea, is important.

Understanding the causes of morning sickness allows a woman to also find out which treatments are best for her. Since there are many causes it’s smart to deal with individual symptoms of pregnant nausea. Believe it or not, it’s possible to use practical things like eating saltine crackers, or even lemons to alleviate problems one is experiencing.

Eating habits can influence how a woman will be impacted by morning sickness. Simply eating small meals frequently will make morning sickness last for shorter periods. For other women the nausea can be thrown off track by the types of foods eaten. Specific types of food have the natural ability to curb feelings of nausea or to prevent it all together.

Where food is concerned, the nausea can be treated by paying close attention to one’s eating habits. The habits a woman had before becoming pregnant may not benefit her once she is and may make morning sickness last longer. Since it has been discovered that morning sickness occurs most often early in the day, an expecting mother can tailor her diet to accommodate the nausea.

Morning sickness is known to decrease in its intensity as the day goes on. So women suffering from its effects can get a good grip on not only ways to combat it, but also understanding what to expect. Dealing with symptoms of nausea is an experience by itself, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It will end eventually and be a memory of the past.
