Brazil is an attractive land with its unique natural resources and wonderful people. The aspects Brazil is most famous for are its forests of the Amazon, the amazing carnival and artistic football. It appears that mother nature is at its best in Brazil and has taken a long time to create it lovingly. The hospitality of the people will enthrall you. Being an urban country, Brazil too has problem to tackle, but it is a place with charm which you shall never forget in your life.
Brazil is populated by approximately 175 million people, most of which speak Portuguese. This number often surprises tourists who assume that the majority of Brazil consists of remote rainforests. While much of the Brazilian rainforest is still untouched and remote, unfortunately much of it is being clear-cut. It's a sad fact, but much of the rain forest and its natural beauty disappear each day.
Brazil like any developing country faces the problem of poverty. Despite this, it still is a perfect destination to be visited. Certain areas in Rio de Janeiro are better left out of your itinerary. You must know where to stay and where not to. Be aware of the current atmosphere of the places where you are staying in and avoid places that are unsafe.
Brazil is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and is a land of beautiful beaches and plenty of opportunities to take part in water sports. Ipanema Beach is the most famous beach in Brazil. Located in Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema Beach is covered with beautiful people, most wearing next to nothing. Perhaps not the best family destination, but if you enjoy people watching this is the place to be.
Rio de Janeiro is a fascinating and beautiful city that is worth a visit. The skyline is dotted with islands and mountains, making Rio simply stunning. The sugar loaf mountain and statue of Christ the Redeemer are must sees while visiting. Rio's people are full of energy and enjoy partying until the wee hours of the morning. If you are lucky enough to visit during Carnaval, you'll also be lucky if you get more than a few hours of sleep.
Heading to the Amazon rainforest is a great day trip. You will get to experience many species of birds and plant life so different from anything else you have likely seen. You can also see many abandoned river villages that recently housed tribes of Indians. Unfortunately, "progress" has driven them further into the Amazon.
Jericoacoara is a little more obscure. It's a small fishing village catering mostly to backpackers, although other tourists are starting to catch onto this unique location. You can wind surf if you choose, or just kick back and enjoy life away from the big city business.
If you are traveling by air then the largest airport in Brazil is Rio. But depending on where you are flying from, you can choose the city you wish to land at. To visit different parts of Brazil, air travel is the best option as Brazil is a big country. Air travel is very costly and the next best option is to take a bus ride which allows you to enjoy the wonderful surrounding while traveling.
Even with its problems, Brazil is still a great destination. The people are warm and friendly and the climate is warm. You will definitely feel welcome there.
