Reno sits in the Nevada desert. It is a small city and is not quite to the stature of its close neighbor, Las Vegas. However, Reno still has ample opportunities for gambling like Las Vegas. In addition, Reno offers a an extensive variety of entertainment and attractions that have nothing to do with gambling. Set your sights on Reno for not only its gambling, but its exciting entertainment as well. The major focal point in Reno is Lake Tahoe. This desert lake has over 70 miles of shoreline to enjoy. You can camp, hike, and trudge around the countryside for fun. Lake Tahoe has a bevy of fun outdoor activities and is a great place to spend your vacation when you aren't too lucky in gambling at the casinos in Reno. Close to Reno is Virginia City. Virginia City is the site of where Mark Twain wrote "Territorial Enterprise". It is a highly visited area by Reno. There are plenty of museums to take in, mines to discover, and the temperature is much more suitable as it is cooler. If you were not interested in cooling off at Lake Tahoe, then how about Wild Waters in Sparks? It is conveniently located just off of Interstate 80 and has a host of activities that children and adults will enjoy. Miniature golf, go-karts, and great food are all available for the taking when you visit Wild Waters in Sparks. Now if you don't feel like making a drive to popular spots around Reno, there is no need. Whitewater Park on the Truckee was created by the city of Reno for kayakers. It is located conveniently downtown and even if you are not into kayaking, walking along the water is a great way to calm down after losing at blackjack. There are more water areas to see in the Reno area like Pyramid Lake. You can see Pyramid Lake by spending time on the boat, lounging at the beach, or taking a picnic by the shoreline. There are plenty of fun outdoor activities to take advantage of while you are touring the Reno area. You can also include an artistic experience by visiting the large number of art studios and galleries. Take in the galleries on 1st street, South Virignia Street, and California Avenue. They are an exciting adventure for any art admirer. They offer impeccable Southwestern art plus art from all over the glob. You can absorb the unique, local culture at these placed. Now if none of these other options have interested you, then you always have the casinos. Also, just as with Vegas, Reno is a popular spot for people to tie the knot and there are a number of chapels and places offering their services to couples. Whatever you decide to do when visiting Reno, you can be certain that you will not get bored!
